Laura McCrossen was born in Southampton in 1964. She achieved a diploma in ceramics at Southend College of Technology in 1985 and a BA (Hons) in 3-dimensional design at Bath College of Higher Education in 1988.
In 1991 Laura moved to St Ives and established Fish Pye Pottery in 1994. She works with stoneware, earthenware and terracotta, many pieces inspired by fish and sea-related subjects and the natural Cornish surroundings. In 1994 and 1995 she designed bathroom jars, soap dishes and beakers for Habitat. Her work can be found on tables in several cafes around St Ives.
