Friedrich Meckseper’s profound interest in physics, astronomy, 19th-century technology and classic literature, influenced his ambition to read the entire lexica from A-Z as a young man. This artwork produced during his student years at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin from 1957-59, illustrates the development of his unique encyclopaedic work method by arranging objects and artifacts in mysterious, timeless spatial configurations. Friedrich Meckseper’s prints are in MOMA (The Museum of Modern Art), New York Collection
