Biography

Fritz Hermann was born in Cuxhaven in 1910. He studied at the Universities of Hamburg and Berlin and was a schoolteacher in Berensch from 1930-1941. After military serviceand a period as a prisoner of war he returned to teach in 1949 at the Ritzebutteler School in Cuxhaven, where he specialised in Pictorial Arts. Fritz Hermann initiated arts projects with young people in the Youth Art Circle, Cuxhaven and from 1956-1962 taught at the Institute for Teachers’ Further Education in Hamburg. This was followed by a period as a teacher in the School for Professional Advancement in the provinceof Niedersachsen until his retirement and return to Cuxhaven in 1974. He was a member of the Pictorial Artists’ Association and contributed to Group Exhibitions at the BBK in Cuxhaven, Stade and Buxtehude. He held one-man exhibitions in the Galerie Artica Cuxhaven in 1975, 1982 and 1985.
